NORTH BERWICK (AP) -A 13-year-old girl was killed Tuesday morning after the car she was in, driven by her older sister, collided with a pickup truck.

The accident happened at the intersection of Valley and Oak Woods Roads. The girls’ car ran a stop sign and collided with a pickup truck driven by a 67-year-old man, police said.

“It looks like the juvenile ran a stop sign, said she didn’t see the sign, and they tried to occupy the same space at the same time,” North Berwick Police Lt. Leo Harriman told WCSH-TV.

Police said the victim was killed instantly and that her sister, 17, and a 13-year-old boy in the back seat suffered minor injuries.

The man in the pickup was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.

Police have not released the names of those involved in the accident.
