FT. MYERS, Fla. – Herbert A. Parker, 72, of Stevenstown Road, Litchfield, died Monday, Dec. 22, at the Lee Memorial Hospital, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born in Madison, Dec. 3, 1931, the son of Harry and Doris (Roberts) Parker, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was an oil burner technician for Roy McGee Oil and a self-employed technician for many years. He operated a chicken farm for 16 years.

He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and fishing. Herb was past commander of the American Legion Post 132 Richmond, past Grande Chef DeGare of the state of Maine, past director of Litchfield Fair Association and a member of the Morning Star Masonic Lodge 41 AF & AM Litchfield.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years. Phyllis (Dow) Parker of Litchfield; three children, Gary Parker and his wife, Marilyn of Litchfield, Penny Kaplan and her husband, Daniel of North Monmouth and Kathy Riley of West Gardiner; his brother, Julian Parker and his wife, Marion of Florida; seven grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
