LIVERMORE FALLS – The Livermore Falls Middle School Student Council held a hat day on Dec. 19 to raise money for the flood victims in Canton.
Students were asked to donate a dollar which would be passed on to the town of Canton for their emergency relief fund. In exchange, the students making the donations would receive a sticker to be placed on their hats which gave them permission to wear the hat for the day.
A total of $100 was raised to help the flood victims. In a school with a student body of 280 students, that means that more than a third of the students chose to participate and help make a difference to people in need.
The idea for the hat day came from the student council. The adviser is eighth grade science teacher Rick Hoddinott and the president of the student council is eighth-grader Jon Estes.
