1920 – 2003

FARMINGTON – Irene B. Norton, 83, of Farmington, formerly of New Vineyard, resided and passed on at Orchard Park Rehab. and Living Center.

She was born Nov. 19, 1920, in Farmington, the daughter of Elmer and Nellie (Drapeau) Stanley. She married Merle Dennis Norton and he passed in May of 1994. She was a woman who loved to read the newspaper, and did so every day of her life. She loved nature, always one to note the change in seasons and took delight to see the hay bales in the fields.

She especially enjoyed going raspberry hunting and took pleasure in making pies and biscuits. She also had a fondness for country fairs and an occasional game of beano. She loved animals, especially her cat, “Blackie.”

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Norton of New Vineyard, and Nina Eschman of Pownal; a son, Alan Norton of New Vineyard; and grandchildren, Megan Norton of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Ryan Eschmann of Pownal.

She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Merle.
