LIVERMORE – Heavy snow forced the cancellation of the annual Holiday Festival at Norlands Living History Center last month, including a country dinner.

Executive Director George Lyons and Festival Coordinator Mary McGaughey said they don’t want anyone to miss out on this wonderful experience, so the dinner has been rescheduled for noon on Saturday, Jan. 3. People who had a paid reservation are being asked to contact Norlands immediately to reconfirm their reservation. The center’s number is (207)897-4366. Its Web site is www.norlands.org.

Some of the other events that were scheduled for the festival will be offered as workshops throughout the winter and spring.

Planned are daylong workshops featuring soap, basket and candle making; woodworking with historic tools; and historic tool care.

The center also plans to offer multi-day workshops on “Ox Driving Lessons” with successful participants receiving an ox-driving license and “Sheep to Shawl” where participants will work with wool as it goes from the sheep to wearable material.

Also planned later is a “Hand Weaving” workshop where people can learn to weave using a small handmade frame and the big, floor looms at Norlands.
