Mosher Pond Road will be closed from Friday morning until late afternoon.

Drivers using Mosher Pond Road in Fayette and Ridge Road in Chesterville should allow additional travel time Friday, Jan. 2, according to the Maine Department of Transportation.

Mosher Pond Road extends north from Route 17 at the Twelve Corners intersection just east of the Livermore Falls-Fayette town line. It becomes Ridge Road after it crosses the town line into Chesterville.

“We’re going to be closing the road about half a mile north of Route 17 to replace a deteriorated culvert,” said Skip Williams of the DOT’s Fairfield office.

“We plan to close the road at 7 Friday morning and have it reopened to traffic by late afternoon. The road will remain open to local traffic from either end of the detour to the work site, but no through traffic will be allowed.”

During the closure, traffic will be detoured by way of Route 17, North Road, Dunton Hill Road and Jackman Mills Road, Williams said.

“We realize the closure may be an inconvenience to drivers and residents on Mosher Pond Road, but the roadway is too narrow for us to replace the culvert without closing the road,” he said.
