1921 – 2003

LEWISTON – Rita Berube Gervais, 82, formerly of 13 Orange St., Lewiston, died Friday, Dec. 26, at the d’Youville Pavilion Nursing Home after a long illness.

Born in Lewiston, on May 13, 1921, she was the daughter of Ludger and Celina Vaillancourt Berube. She attended local schools and was a long time member of St. Peter and Paul’s Church. She worked for the Pepperell and Bleachery and later worked for Connie’s Catering and Campus Cuisine. She also worked for a brief period at Albert & Burpee Funeral Home.

Many may best remember her as Ward Clerk on election day for Ward 5.

She was a very devoted caregiver to her children and to many members of her immediately family. Throughout her life, she was always taking care of someone. A true friend to many, she often visited the local hospitals and nursing homes bringing cheer to many of the patients. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Henry Gervais; a daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and Bob Marchetti of Glastonbury, Conn.; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Sherry Gervais of Ridgefield, Conn.; five grandchildren, Christine, Lauren and Katie Marchetti and Amanda and Andre Gervais; one sister, Yvette Jacques of Avon, Conn.; and many cherished nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by 11 brothers and sisters.
