BOSTON (AP) – A 12-year-old girl was shot in the wrist and a six-month-old baby she held was injured on the cheek in an apartment shooting in Boston’s Dorchester section early Thursday, police said.
A fight broke out after several unexpected guests arrived at the apartment on Columbia Road, police said.
A shot was fired from a 9mm handgun that went through a bedroom door and struck 12-year-old Emmanuella Beliard in her right wrist. She was holding her 6-month-old neighbor Jeanise Personna, who was grazed on her cheek.
. The bullet came to rest inside a bedroom wall.
The two girls, both from Boston’s Mattapan neighborhood, were taken to Boston Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
No arrests were immediately made for the shooting.
Police led away two men in handcuffs from the area, but police spokesman John Boyle said they were arrested on unrelated charges.
