1929 – 2004

PORTLAND – Donald J. Paro, 73, a 22-year resident of Windham, died Friday, Jan. 2, at a Portland hospital.

Born in Portland on March 9, 1929, he was the son of Frank and Reba Parker Paro and attended schools in Portland and Windham.

Mr. Paro proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Okanogan.

On July 16, 1956, he married Patricia J. Brown; they have enjoyed 47 years together.

He was employed as a machinist for more than 30 years at the Rigby Machine Company, of South Portland, retiring from there in 1991.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, snowmobiling, riding his motor cycle and the ocean. He had a great love for small animals, – every day he would feed his birds, squirrels and chipmunks; they would almost eat out of his hand.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia J. Brown Paro of Windham, one daughter and son-in law, Holly Ann and Richard E. White, of Windham; one brother, Edward Paro of Kennebunk; and two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Sarah White, both of Windham.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Lena Jipson and Bernice Meserve.
