MEXICO – With more Mainers than ever being activated and deployed for military duty, families need a way to stay in touch with each other. Maine’s credit unions have been asked to bring back the successful “Operation Phone Home” Campaign they created last spring to help military personnel stay in touch with their families.

The new project, Operation Phone Home 2004 – A New Resolve, is asking members to donate phone cards or money from Jan. 5 to Jan. 25. At the end of the project, phone cards and cash will be donated to the USO to distribute to troops and their families to phone home and call family members for support during this difficult time. Drop cards or cash contributions at credit unions by Jan. 25. Make sure phone cards can be used nationally and internationally. All cards and a check of all contributions will be sent to the USO.
