BRUNSWICK – The Brunswick Shambhala Meditation Center will offer a five-week class based on the book, “The Places That Scare You,” by the Buddhist nun, Pema Chdrn. The class will begin with an open house from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the center, 19 Mason St. The event will include group meditation instruction, discussion and refreshments.
The class will meet weekly on Tuesday evenings through Feb. 10. Each class will include guided meditation instruction, group meditation practice and discussion of the book. The focus will be meditation and compassion practice in daily life.
Pema Chdrn is an American Buddhist nun and a student of Chgyam Trungpa, Tibetan meditation master. She is also an author and teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition.
Beginning meditators throughout the area are welcome. Cost is $30, plus the book, which can be ordered from any bookstore.
