FARMINGTON – As military troops begin to return to Franklin County, a committee chaired by Doug Rawlings is planning to open a relaxed meeting place for them. Old South Church on Main Street has offered space for a coffee house.

People who would like to volunteer or who have suggestions are invited to a brainstorming and planning meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at First Congregational Church (Old South). Coffee and dessert will be served.

Committee member Craigen Healy said everyone’s ideas and energy are needed. “The more volunteers who come forward, the more evenings the coffee house can be open,” she said.

The Farmington area G.I. Coffee house will offer a friendly and informal space for military personnel, veterans, their families and their close friends to share their concerns about military service. Appropriate and relevant information will be provided to them as needed.

For more information or to offer insight, call Rawlings at 778-7292 days or 293-2580 evenings.
