LISBON FALLS – A Lisbon Falls Community Library book discussion group will have as a topic “What Are Our Kids Reading These Days?,” beginning Monday, Jan. 12, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Children’s Room.
The series facilitator will be Priscilla Lee, retired librarian and facilitator/participant for other discussion groups.
The books for the series are on loan from the Maine Humanities Council and may be picked up at the library. The literature reflects the timeless theme of coming of age, but also reaches into issues of culture and difference, of poverty and race, of human frailty and courage.
The meeting dates for the series are Jan. 12 and 26, Feb. 9 and 23, March 8 and 22. Pick up a copy of the book “Two Old Women” and read it prior to the first meeting date.
The books for discussion are “Two Old Women” by Velma Wallis, “Dogsong” by Gary Paulsen, “Holes” by Louis Sachar, “Walk Two Moons” by Sharon Creech, “Maniac Magee” by Jerry Spinelli and “Catherine, Called Birdy” by Karen Cushman.
