1932 – 2004

WINDHAM – Gerald K. Burns, 71, of Gray, died peacefully at Ledgewood Manor Jan. 6.

He was born in Mexico, on Aug. 23, 1932, the son of J. Maxwell and Marion Welch Burns.

He graduated from Mexico High School, Gorham State Teachers College and received two graduated degrees from Boston University. “Gerry” was a teacher, principal, and superintendent. He spent most of his career in S.A.D. 15 as a teacher, principal and superintendent. He also served as business manager at S.A.D. 6 and was superintendent at Long Island School.

On Aug. 28, 1954, he married Audrey Todd Burns. He was an avid golfer, hunter was very active in his community and church.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years; daughters, Becky Lee and husband Darrell of Gray, Heidi Coron and husband Bryan of Las Vegas, Amy Philbrick and husband George of Barrington, N.H.; one son, Shawn Burns of Gray; two brothers, James of Mexico and Richard of Florida; grandchildren, Jesse, April, Dannielle, Breanne, Max, Danny Lee, Nikki, Jake, George, Oliver; and great-grandson, Kiajae.
