1941 – 2003

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Marc L. LaFayette, 62, of Greene, passed away suddenly on Dec. 31, at his home in Fort Myers, Fla.

He was born in Lewiston on Sept. 5, 1941, the son of Robert H. and Yolande (Saindon) LaFayette.

He attended St. Louis Parochial School, Assumption Prep. School in Worcester, Mass., and he graduated from St. Dominics High School in 1959.

Following his graduation he entered the family owned business, Saindon Agency in New Auburn. Thus becoming the third generation owner. In 1985, he moved the agency to Lewiston where he formed a successful partnership with Marc Poirier, operating as LaFayette & Poirier Associates. Mr. LaFayette retired in 1997, to spend time playing his beloved game of golf and enjoying his winters in Ft. Myers.

He was a past member of both the following: Lewiston/Auburn Jaycees and Rotary Clubs, Past member of the Greene Planning Board, Past Director of United Valley Chapter American Red Cross, the Marcotte Home, Independent Association of Maine, Past President of both New Auburn Business Association and Androscoggin Independent Insurance Agents Associations and Past Chairman of the following committee’s: Greene Comprehensive, New Auburn Citizens Advisory, Auburn Holiday Decorating and a corporater of Central Maine Medical Center.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Gillian A. Curtis; two sons of whom he was very proud, Michael LaFayette of Newton, Mass., David and his wife Jennifer LaFayette of Greene; a sister, Louise and her husband Francis Balanda of Wellesley, Mass.; a brother, Robert C. LaFayette and his wife Sue LaHaye of Baton Rouge, La.; two wonderful grandchildren, Brittany and Madison Noel; along with many special nieces and nephews.
