1915 – 2004

LEWISTON – Mariange (Marion) Letourneau, 88, of 124 Pine St. died peacefully at her home Monday, Jan 5, with family by her side.

Born in Livermore Falls, Dec. 20, 1915, a daughter of Pierre and Delia Pomerleau Provencal. She graduated from Livermore High School in the Class of 1933.

She worked at the glove factory in Livermore. Later she moved to Lewiston, where she worked at Montgomery Ward as a sales clerk.

She was married to William Letourneau Aug. 18, 1941. He died March 29, 1989.

Mrs. Letourneau was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish and belonged to the Rosary Sodality. She volunteered for many years at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store. She spent much of her time helping others and visiting homebound friends. Spending time with her family brought her the greatest joy. She loved family gatherings, playing games, mending (for anyone) and reading.

She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Ouellette and husband Robert of Lewiston, Mona Putney and husband Dan of North Carolina, Marlene Sweeney and husband Gary of Lewiston; two sons, William A. and wife Lorna Letourneau of Oxford, Rene G. and wife Marguerite Letourneau of Bowdoin; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Hinds and husband Francis of Raymond; a brother, Earl Provencal and wife Ruth of Plainville, Conn.

She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Bertha and Geneta; and a brother, Cleveland.
