Plan for college
WILTON – The Maine Educational Opportunity Center offers adults free workshops in college planning, financial aid, career decision making and study skills. An interactive workshop, “MEOC 101: The Essentials of College Planning,” will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the East Wilton CareerCenter. Preregistration is required. Archival program
FARMINGTON – The Sandy River Valley Chapter of the Maine Genealogy Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Farmington Public Library. For the program, chapter member Cheryl Patten will speak about “What is, Whys and Hows of Archival Preservation.” Anyone with an interest in genealogy is welcome to attend.
Square dance
WILTON – Friendship Squares Dance Club will host a dance at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Cushing School. The caller will be Lee Kennedy, caller and teacher for the Monday night workshops. The round dance cuer will be Scott Williams. The public is welcome to attend.
Country concert
SALEM – A&E’s Hill Country Music will return to the Salem Community Building at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11. A special guest will be featured during the program. The concert will be held weather permitting. A donation box will be available at the door. The program is sponsored by the Salem Pine Tree Club.
Blacksmith class
WILTON – The Wilton Historical Society will begin its annual blacksmithing classes Monday, Jan. 12. Anyone who is interested in taking the blacksmithing class may call 645-2261 for more information or to register.
Task force to meet
FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Children’s Task Force will hold its annual directors meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at its conference room at 113 Church St. Community members are invited to attend. The task force is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to helping children and families in Franklin County. People can call Mary or Jaylene at 778-6960 if they plan to attend.
Parenting forum
WILTON – A parenting forum will be held Wednesday, Jan. 14, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on High Street on Internet safety. The evening will begin with a free supper at 6 p.m. followed by the program at 6:45 p.m. Childcare will be provided. The forum is open to everyone. For more information, please call 645-3517.
Self-esteem
FARMINGTON – Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community will offer a six-week self-esteem class from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, starting Jan. 27 and ending March 9, at 108 Perham St. Participants will learn ways to challenge old, destructive beliefs and nourish positive thoughts and feelings about themselves. This supportive workshop will give them the tools to start living a rich and rewarding life. There is no fee for participants.
