1918 – 2004
AUBURN – Laurette C. Gendron, 85, formerly of 48 Maple St., Lewiston, died early Wednesday morning, Jan. 7, at Bolster Heights Health Care Facility surrounded by her family.
She was born in St. Agathe, P.Q., Canada, Jan. 15, 1918, a daughter of Joseph P. and Adelle (Garneau) Jourdain. She was educated in Lewiston schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community.
On June 19, 1937, she married Emile Gendron who died Nov. 22, 1951. Mrs. Gendron worked many years in the local textile industry, dividing those years between the Hill Mill and the Bates Mill. She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul’s Church and in her free time she enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
She leaves four sons, Rosario Gendron and wife Juliette of Lisbon Falls, Joe Gendron and wife Debbra of Orr’s Island, Robert Gendron and wife Linda of Lewiston and Fernand Gendron and wife Marge of Sabattus; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one brother, Roger Jourdain and wife Joline of Lisbon Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother, Henry Jourdain.
