PARIS – A Norway woman escaped serious injury Wednesday when her car was struck broadside while turning from Route 26 into a driveway near the Mini-Apple store.
Paris Police Officer Alan Coffin said Crystal Hamner, 26, was traveling north on Route 26 when she stopped and signaled a turn into the driveway.
He said an unknown driver traveling in one of the two southbound lanes stopped and waved her to turn.
As Hamner crossed the first southbound lane a 1997 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Hyla Kist, 22, of Harrison in the second southbound lane struck her vehicle sending it into a sign and guardrail.
Coffin estimated Hamner’s 1989 Ford Tempo was totaled.
Kist’s truck had about $2,000 of front-end damage.
“Neither driver saw the other coming,” Coffin said.
Hamner was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, treated and released. Coffin said she complained of neck and chest pain.
Kist was not injured.
No summonses were issued.
