The Farmington area’s yellow pages offer a look into the possible future.
FARMINGTON – There’s a half-page ad in the new Verizon telephone book’s yellow pages advertising The Pie Hole. The address is 187 Main St. in Farmington.
The ad features a menu that includes pizza, pasta dishes, calzones, salads, soups, cold and hot sandwiches, beverages and desserts.
The ad also notes that the business serves beer and wine, is open seven days a week, and is dine in or take out.
However, there’s no such place in Farmington.
The address in the Farmington, Rumford and Oxford Hills area 2003 telephone book is that of the former Don’s AG.
Code Enforcement Officer Steve Kaiser said there has been a couple people in to talk about what is planned for the former store. It’s expected to be divided into space for three businesses with apartments above.
So far, though, no application for the change has been submitted, Kaiser said.
A white board in his office lists possible agenda items for Feb. 9 Planning Board meeting.
On it is Don’s AG, along with Dunkin Donuts, insurance office and a pizza place with apartments above.
Until the paperwork is filed, Kaiser said, it’s not official.
People come in and talk all the time but don’t file the paperwork and nothing comes of it, he said.
Heater Piece Inc. of Portland is the owner of the building, Kaiser said.
Chris Farmer of Mallone Commercial Brokers, who is handling the property, was unavailable for comment Wednesday.
Kaiser said the yellow pages ad was probably put in because it was the only chance the business would have to put it the Verizon December 2003 edition
