FARMINGTON – “Traditional Goes Healthy” is a two-part program for people who want to make their recipes healthier. It’s offered by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and designed to help participants reduce fat, salt, sugar and calories while increasing nutrients.
The program will be offered from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, Feb. 3 and 10, at the Town Office.
“Many people have recipe boxes stuffed with their old family favorites, but these traditional recipes are typically very high in fat, salt, sugar and calories,” said Wendy Legg Pollock, extension educator and workshop presenter. “With today’s focus on nutrition, people often want to alter the recipes they know and love rather than use new cookbooks full of unfamiliar foods. ‘Traditional Goes Healthy’ is designed to help people make those healthier alterations.”
The workshop is open to the public free of charge, but preregistration is required. People should register by Jan. 30 by calling the Extension Office at 778-4650 or 1-800-287-1478.
