AUBURN – Tonie Ramsey is a hometown hero in the eyes of the local Modern Woodmen of America camp.

Members of the Auburn camp recognized Ramsey’s volunteer service and accomplishments on Nov. 17. In thanks for her efforts, the camp presented a certificate and its appreciation to Ramsey.

Ramsey’s volunteer efforts include the Woman’s Literary Union, Central Maine Medical Center, YMCA and the Auburn Public Library fund-raising drive.

“Modern Woodmen deeply believes in volunteer community service and developed a community service recognition program as a way to acknowledge and thank strong volunteers all across the United States,” said Debi Wagemann, camp secretary.

Modern Woodmen, a fraternal life insurance organization, provides life insurance, annuities and fraternal programs for more than three quarters of a million Americans. With its home office in Rock Island, Ill., Modern Woodmen has camps in Auburn and Lewiston that provide a number of volunteer service and social activities for members.
