HINCKLEY – Haley Veilleux scored a game-high 19 points to lead Eastgate Christian Academy to a 46-22 victory over Averill in girls’ basketball action Thursday.

The Beavers (0-7) jumped out to an 11-7 lead in the first quarter behind the offensive efforts of Danielle Gowen, who tallied a team-high 12 points.

Eastgate (7-1) increased its defensive pressure in the second quarter and outscored Averill 17-2 to take command. Veilleux scored 11 of her 19 points in the quarter. Veilleux also had 12 rebounds, eight steals and five assists.

Gray/NG 42, Lake Region 35

GRAY – Senior point guard Dawn Ross drained 15 points in a balanced attack as Gray-New Gloucester took a 42-35 win from Lake Region in WMC girls’ basketball action Thursday.

The Patriots (8-1) received superb defensive effort from Leanne Waterman, who limited the potentially explosive Lakers (7-2) offense.

Carolyn Ellis recorded a game-high 19 points, including three field goals from beyond the arc, for the Lakers.

Rockland 71, Oak Hill 25

WALES – Caitlyn Hynes shot a sparkling 32 points to power Rockland to a 71-25 win over Oak Hill in KVAC girls’ basketball action Thursday.

The Tigers (5-4) paced themselves quite evenly, scoring 18 points in each of the first three quarters before capping off the final frame with 17 points.

Amber Chapman recorded a team-high nine points for the Raiders (1-8) in the loss.
