Officials will seek a new town manager.
RANGELEY – Town Manager William Lundrigan’s Dec. 31 resignation puts Rangeley in a transition phase as it seeks a new manager.
Selectmen met with town employees Monday to discuss the allocation of government-related duties in Lundrigan’s absence.
“We’ve got a lot of confidence in the employees,” said selectmen’s Chairman Mark Beauregard in a Wednesday telephone interview.
When selectmen met Tuesday, the roles of town employees in keeping the town running smoothly were discussed.
“We’re going to be dividing the duties of the town manager among the selectmen and the town employees,” said Beauregard.
Several executive sessions were held following the regular public meeting to discuss the manager’s status, the search for a parks and recreation director and union negotiations. Beauregard didn’t comment on session specifics, but said the town will begin its search for a new manager soon.
“We expect to get the ball rolling by the end of next week,” he said. Selectmen plan to hold a workshop to discuss the qualities they would like to see in Lundrigan’s replacement.
“You have to advertise and come to an agreement on what qualities you’d like to see,” he said.
After advertising, the town will hold two rounds of interviews with prospective candidates. Beauregard said he expects the process to continue for roughly three months before a new manager is named.
