BETHEL – Bernd Heinrich, a noted wildlife biologist and award-winning author, will present a program on ravens at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, in Bingham Auditorium at Gould Academy.
Hosted by the Mahoosuc Land Trust, the Local Knowledge series event will reveal Heinrich’s passion for Corvus corax, the common raven.
His slide-enhanced presentation will reflect the German-born biologist’s scientific investigations and field studies from around the world on the largest member of the crow family.
In Heinrich’s book, “Mind of the Raven,” he takes readers on a journey from New England to Germany, and from Montana to Baffin Island in the high Arctic, offering vivid accounts about field science in the wild.
In another book, “Ravens in Winter,” the University of Vermont biology professor shares what he learned while studying the birds in the dead of winter in Maine.
Following his presentation, Heinrich will sign his books that audience members may wish to bring. Books-N-Things, a Main Street Bethel bookstore, is expected to be selling three of his books, “Winter World” and the two mentioned above, in the Bingham lobby at the presentation.
“The Mahoosuc Land Trust is pleased to offer this series to the public free of charge,” said member Frank Vogt.
