1923 – 2004
AUBURN – Winifred E. “Betty” Poulin, 80, passed on Thursday, Jan. 8, at the home of her daughter, Sharon Lowell, 74 Madison St., Auburn, where she had resided for the past year. Formerly of 171 Granite St., Mexico, where she had lived for most of her life.
She was born in Rumford, on Oct. 19, 1923, the daughter of Harold and Winifred (Hickey) Poulin, and graduated from Mexico High School with the Class of 1941.
“Betty” had been employed at Shop & Save in Rumford for several years until retirement in 1994.
She was a communicant of St. Athanasius – St. John Church in Rumford; member of St. Timothy Circle 504, Daughters of Isabella; worked as a volunteer at the Greater Rumford Senior Citizens; she was a member of the Early Bird Bowling League; and she loved to play Cribbage and Beano.
She was married in Rumford, on Aug. 29, 1947, to the late Melvin J. Poulin who died in Rumford, on Sept. 9, 1994.
Survivors include two daughters, Tracy Acheson of Arundel, Sharon Lowell and husband Terry of Auburn; a son, Lawrence Poulin and wife Beverly of Farmington, N.M.; a brother, Walter Howard of Circleville, Ohio; a sister, Margaret Pooler of Deland, Fla.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren
