LEWISTON – HealthSteps at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center will begin adult swimming classes as part of its winter specialty program beginning Wednesday, Jan. 14.

Classes will be held at Tarbell Pool at Bates College from 6:10 to 6:40 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays.

Wednesday mornings will focus on water comfort, exposing beginning students to basic water skills, such as floating, putting the face in the water and basic water safety skills. Friday classes, for people already comfortable in the water, will work on stroke refinement, touching on all major swim strokes.

Adult Learn to Swim will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis at $35 for a six-week program. Call HealthSteps at 777-8898 for more information or to register.
