FARMINGTON – Daniele Mayer paced five players in double digits to lead the University of Maine at Farmington to a 90-32 rout of Becker College in women’s basketball action Sunday afternoon.

Mayer scored 12 points while Megan Cyr, Kate LaHaye, and Sara Martin each added 11 points. Cheryl Kempton rounded out the Beavers attack with 10 points.

Becker failed to have any player reach double digits.

Husson 77, Johnson State 43

BANGOR – Crystal Martin exploded for 19 points to lead Husson College to a 77-43 win over Johnson State in women’s basketball action Sunday afternoon.

Hollie Gracie and Sarah Davis chipped in with 12 points each while Shauna Mullenex rounded out the scoring with 10 points. The Braves built a commanding 44-26 lead at the end of the first half and never looked back.

Johnson Sate was paced by Lilly Thomas with 13 points.

Thomas 54, Elms 30

WATERVILLE – Tammy Fowler scored 13 points to pace Thomas College to a 54-30 win over Elms College in women’s basketball action Sunday afternoon.

Amanda Godley and Heather Carter added 11 and 10 points in the win.

Elms was led by Tina Fontaine with 11 points.

GORHAM – Freshman Jennifer Carboni netted a goal at 15:28 of the third period, breaking a 1-1 tie to lift the University of Southern Maine to a 2-1 triumph over The University of Massachusetts at Boston in ECAC East hockey action Sunday afternoon.

The Beacons opened the scoring at 9:06 of the second period as Katie Reardon converted a feed from Annie Larson, The Huskies (5-5-1) evened the score nine minutes later as Molly Zogby deposited the puck in the back of the net on feeds from Bevin Padgett and Tricia Kamp, setting the stage for Carboni’s heroics.

Karen Janic recorded 30 saves on 31 shots to collect the win.

Men’s basketball

Husson 105, Johnson State 64

BANGOR – Buddy Leavitt poured in 21 points and hauled down eight rebounds, leading Husson College to a decisive 105-64 win over Johnson State in men’s basketball action Sunday.

The Braves built a comfortable 17-point margin at the end of the first half and continued to tickle the twine as Tyler Muzzy and Bill Beauregard added 18 and 17 points respectively in the win.

The Badgers were led by Frank Ponte with a team-high 17 points.

Elms 107, Thomas 84

WATERVILLE – Kyle Seyboth drained a game-high 22 points to lead six players in double digits as Elms College downed Thomas College 107-84 in men’s basketball action Sunday afternoon.

Adam Rich led the Terriers (2-7) with a team-high 21 points while James Goodley and Ryan Conrad chipped in with 14 and 12 points in the loss.
