LIVERMORE FALLS – Selectmen will meet in special session at 6:30 p.m. Monday to set a date for a special town election to fill a vacant seat on their board.

Selectmen have been operating with four members since the resignation of Clayton Putnam on Dec. 2. They had thought they could continue with only four until the regular election in June. However, they agreed last Monday that they need the fifth member to maintain a quorum of three.

Work commitments and illness have kept the attendance at just three for the last two meetings, preventing the board from making decisions unless all three are in agreement.

It is anticipated the board will be able to use a shortened version of the regular election process that includes less time for nomination papers to be available and returned, so that the position can be filled as soon as possible.
