AUBURN – A 12-week Coastal Navigation Course will be be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at Edward Little High School.

The course prepares participants for safely navigating the Maine coast. It is often said, “If you can navigate the Maine coast safely, then you can navigate any coast.” The classes cover subjects such as chart reading, dead reckoning plotting, current and tide adjustments, bearings, GPS and navigation safety.

Participants will have the opportunity to bring in a GPS to have private instruction on its use or operate one of the instructor’s GPS units to learn all its capabilities.

American Sailing Association certification, recognized by most charter companies, is available if desired as the instructor is certified to conduct association exams.
