As I get older, I fear that maybe I’m losing my senses.
Let me get this straight: the racinos are to save horse racing in Maine by allocating a small percentage of the slots revenue to keep harness racing healthy?
Great thought, but with the slots going 24 hours a day, seven days a week, guess where the gamblers will be during the racing.
Second thought, this one regards necessity for a track license holder to be of good character. Watching Mr. Scott finagle so far should answer that question.
Gov. Baldacci is right to be trying to install powerful oversight for these racinos.
Better still, if we must have the slots, why not have the state run them and get all the profits? Goodbye deficits and endless debates over who is cheating whom.
