Seminars offered

RUMFORD – Business lunch-and-learn seminars are planned, beginning Jan. 21, that will offer opportunities using a hands-on approach. The program is a project of River Valley Technology Center, the River Valley Growth Council and the River Valley Chamber of Commerce. The program will enable new and existing businesses to get together under one roof, share information, past experiences and explore networking opportunities for long-term success. A speaker will offer advice for businesses. Sessions will be held on the third Wednesday of every month from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the conference room at the River Valley Business Resource Center on 34 River St. The cost is $8 and includes lunch. Discussion group

RUMFORD – Unitarian/Universalist discussion group will meet at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, at the home of Pat and Joe Sirois 114 Franklin St. There will be review and discussion of Chris Hodge’s “War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning.” For more information phone 364-2659.

Society meeting

CARTHAGE – The Carthage Historical Society will hold the January meeting at the old school museum building on Tuesday, Jan. 20, starting will a potluck supper at 5:30 p.m. The speaker for this meeting will be Carthage resident, Kim Dailey. Daily has turned a woodworking hobby into a fast growing business with his products being sold in gift shops across the country as well as on the Internet. He will be showing examples of his work. The public is invited to attend.
