NORWAY – The 2004 Norway Farmers Market will offer area residents better shopping times, a more convenient location and an expanded selection of fresh products to purchase.
Jeffrey and Allison Rosenblatt of Albany Township said recently that market members voted to change their market day from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursdays, beginning May 20, at a new location in the parking lot next to L.M. Longley & Son on Deering Street.
Besides fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, dairy products, eggs, herbs and maple products, the market will offer organic pork and chicken by members Dan Perron of Sumner Valley Farms, homemade pies, cakes, cookies and bars by Allison Rosenblatt of the Delicious Baking Co.
By changing the market day and time to Thursday afternoon, members hope that customers who work will be able to shop after work. Their purchases will not sit in a hot car all afternoon, as might have been the case when market was held Friday mornings. Utilizing the Longley parking lot will enable the market to add vendors and offer customers more comfortable space for browsing and selecting goods. Members also voted to increase the mileage rule for potential vendors to 45 miles surrounding Norway in hope of attracting additional vendors.
