NORWAY – Freakwitch, a folk-rock, trance-groove collective will return to the Fare Share Commons with a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at 447 Main St.

The six-member ensemble is co-led by vocalist Matthew Shields of Hollis and guitarist James Lindenschmidt Portland. Others are percussionist Alan Day of South Paris, vocalist and guitarist Damon Holman of Portland, drummer Brendan Pajak of Portland and bassist Yosarian of Belfast.

The performance will feature original songs written by band members, as well as a couple of cover tunes.

Dancing is encouraged.

The song-writing team of Shields and Lindenschmidt began in 1997 with the group Amanda’s Boy. When that project ended the following year, Wheel was born, playing in Maine clubs until 2001.

Freakwitch took shape early in 2003, and has been steadily morphing ever since.

The Fare Share Commons is supported entirely by donations and room use fees. The band will accept $5 “contributions” at the door.

For more information, phone Day at 743-0165 or Shields at 929-3574 or visit www.freakwitch.net.
