RUMFORD – Sophomore guard Kristen Arsenault nailed 17 points to lift Mountain Valley to a 48-17 rout over Lisbon in girls’ basketball action Wednesday.

The Falcons (5-5) shut out Lisbon 13-0 in the fourth quarter and had a 35-4 performance in the second half to step up the game following a 13-13 tie at intermission. The Greyhounds (0-11) received nearly all of their points from Dominique Mathieu, who tallied 13. Lisbon led 9-4 after the first quarter.

Winthrop 51, Livermore Falls 28

WINTHROP – Nicki Emery netted 11 points to pace Winthrop to a 51-28 victory over Livermore Falls in a MVC basketball matchup Wednesday. Emilie Knight and Amanda Garwood chipped in 10 points each for the Ramblers (4-7).

Taryn Flagg led the Andies (3-8) with a game-high 17 points, the only Livermore athlete to reach double digits.

G-NG 48, Yarmouth 35

GRAY – Senior guard Katie Skilling scored the game-high 18 points to lift Gray-New Gloucester to a 48-35 win over Yarmouth in WMC girls’ basketball action Wednesday.

Dawn Ross had a great game on offense, providing the Patriots (10-1) with 11 rebounds to go along with her six points. Josie Danieli chipped in with 10 points, including four free throws.

Junior center Aylie Baker scored eight of her 12 points in the second half as the Clippers (5-6) tried to spark a little more offense down the stretch.

Despite nine Clipper players posting points in the contest, Yarmouth failed to outscore the Patriots in a single frame.

Hockey

EL 8, Cony 1

AUGUSTA – Kyle Smith punched in four goals and earned two assists, leading Edward Little High School to an 8-1 victory over Cony in Class A hockey action Wednesday night.

Colby Gilbert knocked in a goal and was credited with three assists for the undefeated Red Eddies (9-0). Teammate Joe Pepin scored once and earned two assists.

For Cony, Dane Wing scored the lone goal.

Girls’ ice hockey

Hebron 5, Kents Hill 3

HEBRON – Steph Roy scored a pair of goals in the second period to lift Hebron to a 5-3 win over rival Kents Hill in a girls’ ice hockey matchup Wednesday.

Daniella Lyons, Julia Nyitray and Elena Hayes all netted single goals for Hebron to complete the scoring.

Shauna Neary made 26 saves in net to post the win.

Boys’ basketball

Hall-Dale 58, Mt. Abram 52

SALEM – Matt Wheelock netted 19 points to propel Hall-Dale to a 58-52 win over Mt. Abram in MVC boys’ basketball action Wednesday.

Joe Willet chipped in 18 points for the Bulldogs (9-2).

Sterling Pingree led the scoring effort for the Roadrunners (3-8) with a 14-point performance, while Frank Hayes added 12.
