PARIS – The Paris Cape Historical Society is moving its museum headquarters from 19 Park St. to 77 High St.

The move to the residential home the society is purchasing from Joanne M. Schuelth of Otisfield will give the society about twice as much room as it has now.

The Planning Board approved the site plan at its meeting Tuesday night.

The home, at the corner of High and Porter streets, is served by town water and sewer and has about a third of an acre of land. The society will provide a handicapped parking space and four other spaces. A sign 4 feet square or less will be erected on the site.

Plans call for the bushes around the building to be cut and for inside rooms to be painted and refurbished for displaying historical artifacts and books.

The museum will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursdays from June to October and open at least once a week for research. An outdoor yard sale will be held annually and the society will occasionally hold other sales inside the museum.

There will also be regular monthly society meetings, likely to be held in the afternoon.
