CANTON – Whitney Lodge No. 167 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons will hold a special meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, for installation of officers. Past Grand Master RW George P. Pulkkinen will bagpipe the new officers into the lodge hall. The meeting will be preceded by a roast beef supper at 6:30 p.m. All master Masons are welcome.

Band to play

DIXFIELD – The Once A Week Blues Band will appear from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Dixfield Coffeehouse, High Street. Cost for adults is $5 and children under 12 free accompanied by an adult.

Bean supper

RUMFORD – The runners from Le Paresseux Snowshoe Club will hold a bean supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at the club on Waldo Street to raise money to help buy matching running outfits. Cost for adults will be $5 and children under 12 are $3.

Gem workshops

NEWRY – The Oxford County Mineral and Gem Association will hold a series of workshops at the home of Norm Davis beginning Sunday, Jan. 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. and continue every other Sunday, Feb. 1, 15, 29 and March 7. For more information or directions call 824-2844.

DIXFIELD – The next Elder Issues series will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Dixfield American Legion, off Main Street behind Holmes Market. The topic will be taking control of your bladder presented by Angela Dubuc, R.N., Bladder Control Center, Central Maine Medical Center. To pre-register call 562-4226. This is free to elders and their families presented by Elsemore Dixfield Center.
