1933 – 2004
PORTLAND – Alfred J. Routhier Jr., 70, of 9 Grandview Circle, Mexico, died Friday, Jan. 16, at Maine Medical Center.
Born in Rumford, Nov. 11, 1933, a son of Alfred J. and Esther Beliveau Routhier Sr. He graduated from Stephens High School in the Class of 1951, and received his Business Administration Degree from the University of Maine at Orono.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict and worked as an accountant at Weyerhuser Corp.
Mr. Routhier was a member of St. Athanasius and St. John’s Parish and was an avid reader and enjoyed classical music. He also enjoyed summering at Cupsuptic Lake in the Rangeley area, hiking, bicycling and fishing. He loved spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Claudette Yve Bouffard of Mexico, whom he married June 16, 1956; five daughters, Cheryl Worrey and husband Bruce of Windham, Pamela Bird and husband Gregory of No. Andover, Mass., Laurie Gerard and husband Kempton of Poland, Lisa Cundiff and husband Dan of Edwardsville, Ill., Kimberly Erskine and husband Peter of So. Bristol; 14 grandchildren, Christopher, Michelle, Daniel, Jessica, Emily, Samuel, Chelsea, Cassandra, Sean, Anthony, Kelsey, Chauncey, Carly and Caleb; two sisters, Therese Gauthier and husband Francis of Rumford, Jeanne LeFebvre and husband Ruel of Mexico; three brothers, Albert Routhier and wife Betty of Maryland, Robert Routhier and wife Ginny of Georgia, David Routhier and wife Tina of Colorado.
He was predeceased by a sister, Germaine Warner.
