I do not envy our humane agent his job, but to say that warm blooded animals, like horses, “aren’t bothered by the cold” is ridiculous (Jan. 10).

Horses suffer from heat, cold and fly bites the same as we do. This ridiculous fiasco has gone on since Aug. 3, 2003. If these horses weren’t suffering last summer, then why could they be heard from a half mile away?

Our town clerk told me that the land owner made it clear to the residents on Gurney Hill right from the beginning that he was not going to build a barn for those horses. If they do not want to take responsibility for their pets, then they should sell them or give them away.

As for the barn, as of Jan. 7, it had no roof and the sides were not closed in. Nearly finished?

Dictionary defines deadline: “line or limit that can’t be passed, latest timing for finishing something.” There have been several deadlines.

As for “complaints from horse-lovers,” we are all knowledgeable horse people with horses of our own. I find this term condescending.
