BOSTON – Daniel J. Geraghty, 48, died suddenly on Jan. 12. He was the son of John and Rosemary Geraghty of Bryant Pond.

He was born in Madison, Wisc., and grew up on the south shore of Boston in Hingham and Scituate, Mass. He graduated from Scituate High School in 1972, and attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., the University of Vancouver in Vancouver, Canada, and the University of Massachusetts.

He worked as a chef in a number of Boston restaurants, Locke Ober, Masion Robert, the Parker House the Hyatt Regency Hotel and others.

He suffered from mental illness for many years, but was determined to live a full life in spite of these burdens. He was a generous, loving man, helping his less fortunate neighbors in the Boston area. He reached out to those who needed him.

Survivors include his parents, John and Rosemary; his fiancee, Charlotte MaComber; three brothers, Michael J. of Pleasant Hill, Calif., Timothy C. of Marblehead, Mass., Robert J. of Portland; four sisters, Jeanne Jones of Norway, Megan Bakken of Temple, Texas, Mary Mendes of Saco and Bridget Cloutier of Cape Elizabeth.

He was predeceased by his older brother, Patrick in 1983.
