1937 – 2004

PORTLAND – Arnold M. Beleckis, 66, of the Brownfield Road, Porter, died unexpectedly at Mercy Hospital on Monday, Jan. 19.

Born in Auburn, Oct. 30, 1937, a son of Walter and Lilliette Marois Beleckis, he graduated from Edward Little High School in 1955.

After graduation, he joined the Air Force and did his basic training at Sampson Air Force Base in New York, then served at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho, and finally at Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, where he met his wife Stella, who was from Claire, New Brunswick.

After his discharge in 1959, he was accepted and joined the Auburn Police Dept. In 1962, he became a member of the State of Maine Fish and Game Department as a game warden serving at St. Pamphile (T-15 R-15), Bridgewater and finally in Kezar Falls, where he retired in 1982.

He was a past president of Cornish/Kezar Falls Kiwanis and was scoutmaster of Boy Scout troop 375 in Kezar Falls for seven years. He became very active in the Masonic Fraternity and currently was a member of Greenleaf Lodge in Cornish, where he was a past master and was currently serving as senior warden.

He was also secretary of Drummond Lodge in North Parsonsfield and senior warden in Freedom Lodge in Limerick. During his Masonic career, he served the Grand Lodge of Maine as the 18th Masonic District education officer and grand master. He also served four years as the assistant grand lecturer for the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th Districts.

He very much enjoyed the outdoors and loved to participate in hunting, fishing, motor boating and camping. The activity he loved the most was being with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Stella Beleckis of Porter; a son, Walter Beleckis of Porter; a daughter, Celeste Emmons of Denmark; and three grandchildren, Joshua and Chelsea Emmons of Denmark and Hunter Beleckis of Porter.
