NORWAY – The Norway Memorial Library is seeking 300 families who are willing to donate one book each to be sent to the Norway Armory National Guard Company C of the 133 Engineer Battalion.
Reference librarian Lynn Bivens said it is a perfect way for the community to connect with its members stationed overseas.
Beginning Friday, the library will be collecting books along with five other libraries in the Oxford Hills area.
“I hope people can write a brief note of encouragement to guardsmen who may read the novel,” Bivens said.
He said the library’s goal is to get 300 paperback books.
The other libraries participating are: Harrison’s Caswell Public Library, Oxford’s Freeland Holmes Library, Paris Public Library, West Paris Public Library and the Waterford Library Association.
Bivens said the library will continue collecting novels through February.
Then it will seek local financial assistance to help pay for shipping the books.
