You have to be kidding me! While reading the paper Saturday morning, (Jan. 17) I was appalled to read the caption under a picture of firemen examining a “busted” water pipe. “Broken” is the correct word.

Newspapers in my classroom? Very improbable as it is difficult enough to correct students’ misuse of our language as well as to teach them to proofread and edit their work without the influence of seeing this sort of error in their local newspaper.
