LEWISTON – Lewiston Adult Education is offering a free course to prepare students for the INS citizenship interview. In the interview, applicants must demonstrate knowledge of U.S. history, politics and civics as well as general proficiency in conversational and written English.

Topics will include the Bill of Rights, the U.S. Constitution, the three branches of government and the rights and responsibilities of a citizen. Emphasis will be placed on dialogue and confidence with English.

Since 1982, more than 150 students have become citizens after taking classes at Lewiston Adult Education.

The class will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays for 15 weeks beginning Jan. 28 at Lewiston Adult Education’s Adult Learning Center lin the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St. The instructor is Rachel Silver.
