NEW GLOUCESTER – Sabbathday Lake is the place to be on Saturday, Feb. 7, the date of the annual Ice Fishing Tournament, sponsored by the town’s First Congregational Church. Tickets are $10 each. The proceeds of the tournament will sponsor a family for a week at Camp Sunshine, a camp for children with life-threatening diseases.

Tickets may be purchased at Cloutier’s Market and Wing’s Variety and Buddy’s Store in New Gloucester and Dag’s Bait Shop of Auburn, or by calling tournament Chairman Roger Hines, 926-3943.

The Sabbathday Lake Grange on Route 26 will be headquarters and will be open from 6 a.m. until the last weigh-in at 4 p.m. All state fishing laws must be observed and the three biggest fish by weight will be the winners. The judge’s ruling is final.

First prize will be an ice augur; second, Indian basket and five traps; third, $50 gift certificate. There will be many door prizes.
