PARIS – A Seed Read and Feed presentation will be offered by the McLaughlin Foundation Garden and Horticultural Center at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 97 Main St. Participants can enjoy a bowl of soup and fresh bread while sharing old favorites or new seed and plant catalogues. The 2004 catalogue supply is from Avant Gardens, Cook’s Gardens, Fedco, Fieldstone Gardens, Hedgehog Hill, Johnny’s Seeds, Seeds of Change, Shepard’s Seeds and more. There is no admission fee. ‘Logging’ author
NORWAY – Norway Memorial Library will present children’s author Mary Morton Cowan who will discuss and read from her book “Timberr, A History of Logging in New England” from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays Jan. 29 and Feb. 5, at the library. The presentation will include visuals. Inspiration for her book stems from stories of her father’s childhood in the Paris Manufacturing Co.’s woods operation. A Maine native, Cowan is also the author of “Ice Country,” a historical novel, and 60 articles in children’s magazines including “Highlights for Children.” These programs are for children ages 8 to 14.
