CANTON – A Livermore man was arrested Sunday after the vehicle he was operating struck a construction barrier on Route 140 and rolled over. A teenage passenger was taken to a Rumford hospital for minor injuries, police said.

Randy Stewart, 19, of Livermore was charged with operating under the influence, driving to endanger and illegal transportation of alcohol, state police Trooper Kyle Tilsley said.

Stewart was heading north on Route 140 about 4:45 a.m. in a Ford Explorer and failed to negotiate a corner near the new bridge over the Androscoggin River. The SUV hit a barrier and rolled over and came to rest on its wheels on the bridge, Tilsley said.

A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, both from Livermore, were passengers in the vehicle, the trooper said.

The 1995 Explorer was totaled, he said.

Stewart was taken to the Rumford Police Department and bailed from there. He is scheduled to appear April 6 in Rumford District Court, Tilsley said.
