AUBURN – Evelyn Duplissis, chairwoman for the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society’s third annual “Walk for a Humane Community,” presented Pretty Pets owner Katherine Scott with a Sponsorship Award for her team’s contribution on Dec. 11. The team raised $700 in sponsorship.
The Humane Society’s event, held on Oct. 5 at Railroad Park in Lewiston, generated more than $6,000 in proceeds, designated specifically for the new shelter’s “Almost Home” program.
The program is a project that, in conjunction with the Abused Women’s Advocacy Project, will provide temporary care and shelter for pets of victims of domestic violence.
The new shelter is to be built on Strawberry Avenue in Lewiston. Anyone interested in learning more about the plans for the new shelter can call the shelter at 786-4713 or visit them at 3312 Hotel Road.
