PORTLAND – The Seth Yacovone Band and Entrain will present a concert at The Asylum, 121 Center St., on Friday, Jan 23. Doors open at 8 p.m.

Vermonters Tom Coggio, Steve Hadeka and Seth Yacovone make up the trio known as the Seth Yacovone Band. Their energetic sound combines elements of blues, jam rock, hard rock and Jazz. Over the last eight years, they’ve opened for such greats as BB King, Ray Charles, moe, Little Feat and The Wailers. Yacovone has also been invited to sit in with Phish and Tres Anastasio for several shows.

Entrain, from Martha’s Vineyard, has become a most popular jam bands in the Northeast. Tom Major, whose goal was to create music using styles of percussion from around the world, formed the band in 1993. Combining musical styles such as rock, funk, ska, New Orleans, and African polyrhythms, Entrain is currently touring in support of their latest effort, “Rise Up: Live Volume One”.
