I read in your paper recently the article about the students protesting the euthanasia of the five dogs used as “guinea pigs” at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and the following article stating the dogs were killed despite the protest of 30 students (Jan. 1).

I am dismayed this happened just because the dogs did not have owners to protect them from inhumane treatment.

I also understand the five dogs were given pain medication after their legs were deliberately broken. Dr. Angie Warner, and also the inspectors who allowed this to happen, should be charged with cruel and abusive treatment.

I always looked up to Tufts University, thinking they did great things for animals. I had faith and trust in them. Not anymore.

To tell us that using high-tech bone scanners would not have provided the same quality is nonsense.

Research people have lost their humanity and their integrity in the name of fame and money.
